5.30pm at Bath CC

In Attendance

Gregg Brown, Robert Maggs, Simon Gwilliam, Sam Shrubsole,  Nick Groome & Grant Sheppard

Apologies: Alex Muse & Jonathan Green

GB welcomed Grant Sheppard on to the committee- GB wanted his in depth knowledge of the game and the club and felt that we will benefit immensely  the moving forward of Cricket at the Club with Grant part of this.  He will major on the coaching set up and offer 20 plus years of experience with this, give advice and a mentoring routine for the clubs coaches. The CC are lucky to have him present.

Club plans non cricket- GB reported that

•   Work on the patio looks amazing and has helped the professional look of the club.

•   The food has been a big plus

Senior Cricket report RM reported

•   Greg Hay has settled in well and has fitted in with the 1st XI extremely well.

•   Woman teams so far have had a few oppositions cancel due to lack of numbers and this is causing a frustration

•   Summer training for men attended well

•   Summer training for the woman less well attended due to the logistics of players travelling however the girls on a Friday has big numbers. The CC thanks Ian Shrubsole

•   All teams have done well so far with all teams top of their respective leagues apart from the 2’s who are competing well in theirs.

•   Robin Lett has told the club that he is now playing for Frome for financial reasons and will be a loss to the first team

•   RM expressed his frustrations of the player availability throughout the club, there is an in-depth culture now that players play when they want and will happily not play from week to week, (national cup match and national T20 are examples) The Club give a lot to the players but do they give enough back, with their commitment or help around the club?  The CC have agreed that this is a problem especially with other teams now paying big money to a few players and is the club being left behind with getting players out on a regular basis. GB said that it should be an acceptable limit that players commit to at least 15 matches throughout the summer. What can be done to achieve this?? CC agree that we need a culture change as we don't believe that paying players simply to just play is the right way going forward and would paper over cracks. Where in fact we should be creating an environment where players think twice before they decide to take matches off & offer their services in other areas of the club. We need an extra ordinary meeting to discuss this with the MC, as if we don't want RM will feel more and more isolated without the backing of the 2 Committees. GB to present at the next MC meeting.

•   Expenses of student players coming from afar should be more transparent with all members of the club being able to access this type of help. GB and RM to sort a list of players who might come under this especially including the Woman.

Youth Cricket report GB reported

•      Youth cricket report was not discussed as the senior cricket area took up the majority of the meeting and in JG absence this will be caught up on in the next meeting.

•      The parent’s information evenings were a big success and thanks JG SS for these.

Social Update SG reported

•   That we should all be responsible for selling the HOE down evening as this is quickly approaching.

AOB

•      Youth teams to be invited to watch senior matches. To include food. GB to look at this with JG

•      To increase the cricket feel in the main clubhouse, captain’s boards etc

•      Black board to be put back up in the club to highlight the highest scorers and results of each match from the 1st XI to the spears covering all teams within the club. It was agreed that players love seeing their names “up in lights”.

•      Signage should be improved and placed on North Parade/car park showing the club as more welcoming with clear instructions where the entrance is- to break down the view that the clubhouse is not for non-members.   MH to sort
