Christine Bradley : Tribute

Born 7th October 1942 to 1st March 2016 aged 73 years

Chris joined Somerset Wanderers  Ladies CC in 1970 ,our second season, having played cricket at school and also for Bristol Ladies before they folded. When asked if she bowled she said 'a little'. That was an understatement, and as ever, Chris was very modest about her ability.
She was a brilliant bowler, accurate and always on a good length. She was also a very handy middle order bat, having a calming influence on the team if there was a batting collapse and lightening quick between the wickets.

Her cricket record boasts 7 wkts for 9 runs against Devon in 1970, 7 for 37 against Winchester in 1971. Both of these were the most wickets taken in a single game. She also took a hat trick against a men's team in 1971. Then in 1990 she took 6 for 0 runs against Cardiff. Her top score was 79 not out.

She was an integral part of our team for many years and went on to represent the Western Counties and Civil Service teams. Chris remained chairman until the amalgamation with Bath Cricket Club, nearly 30 years later. She made sure the transition from Somerset Wanderers to Bath Wanderers ran smoothly and was made a Life Member of Bath Cricket Club.

Chris took part in all our club tours, to Holland, Ireland, New Zealand & Australia. She appointed herself as player/tour manager.

Chris retired from playing in 1996 and had taken 342 wickets, the most number of wickets taken by a Wanderer at that time. She maintained a keen interest in the club.

The friendships formed during our playing days carried on, with numerous birthday celebrations and get together's. Once a Wanderer always a Wanderer.

Chris was a brilliant friend, always loyal, supportive and caring of others. She will be missed enormously, but will remain in our hearts forever.
