Chairman's update 7th Feb 2014

I have been in post for one month and it’s been a busy time. Fresh out from Chairing my first committee meeting, a good two and a half hour session with lively discussions.

One of my aims is to provide regular updates on the work of the Chairman and the committee to the members through this update.

The committee was missing Mike Priscott who is recovering well following a recent health scare and we wish him all the best, he will be taking a break from club duty but hopes to ease himself back in later this year.

At the AGM the issue of members knowing who is on the committee was raised so attending tonight’s meeting were the following:

Amongst the topics discussed were JR Pavilion, Indoor Centre, Car parking, Ground, hospitality, club expenditure and the structure of the management committee.

The JR pavilion will see a temporary roof replacing the scaffolding as the club takes a breather from two large projects and assesses the best use of a re-built JR Pavilion.

The new Bath Indoor Cricket Centre continues to receive rave reviews and bookings are steadily climbing we are open to ideas for daytime weekday use such as exercise classes please get the message out.

We are looking at tightened up the use of the car parking its quite simple anyone member or not who is attending the club or indoor centre either for cricket or socially can park for free otherwise you should pay. There will be more ticket inspections and we are considering the use of parking passes for people attending the club to help identify who is parking within the rules.

The hospitality has seen a busy year and continues to see the profile of the club as a facility within the city grow.

The cricket committee will reform and meet quartely under the Director of Cricket which will then feed into the managment committee.

There are changes in the structure of the committee detailed below.

Tom Stayt moves from co-opted member to Playing members rep on a temporary basis to be voted on at the next AGM.

Akhil Chokra and Mike Priscott swap roles on a temporary basis so Akhil becomes Financial Director and Mike becomes Treasurer this will again be voted on at the AGM.

Jeni Dindar replaces Tom Stayt as co-opted member and has been asked to help with club communications. Jeni has proof read Parade in Print for the last four years and brings skills which we need as we move forward.

During my first month I have also been conducting the recruiting of a new assistant groundsman with interviews on Sunday, we are hoping for an appointment in the next 7-10 days.

I hope this update is useful if its too long, not giving enough detail etc please let me know.
