Chairmans Update February

There has been a lot of activity at the club in the close season here is a brief summary.

I am delighted that we have successfully recruited a new Head Groundsman Jim McGill who has previously worked at Lansdown CC and Glastonbury CC and also worked with Somerset CCC on the recreation ground when he worked for Bath  Rugby. Jim is a Bath man having been to school at Beechen Cliff and lives locally at Combe Down. He started at the beginning of Feb and already has started to make an impact.
We are losing our Assistant Groundsman Stuart Antell who has been successful with a job application at the Rose Bowl we wish him all the best as he leaves us on the 13th March. We are looking at the options for support to the Head Groundsman and hope to have news soon.

Under the stewardship of new Cricket Director Matt Hankins there have been great strides made over the winter with the appointment of a new Youth Co-ordinator Jon Green now supporting Cricket Manager Rob Maggs bringing greater structure to the Youth set up.
We have recruited eight players so far including a new overseas player for 2015. The details have been published on the website but with regard to the overseas player we felt that the time was right to recruit someone for the first time for six years not only to provide a regular player on both Saturdays and Sundays but to help bring the club together socially off the field.
A players forum took place on the 8th January where players were invited to air their views about all aspects of playing for Bath CC a turn out of over twenty players made for some lively debate.
New Cricket Director is looking for greater commitment both on and off the field in 2015 and we are trying to raise the social scene at the club.

Following Mike Priscotts retirement as Treasurer we were delighted when Kirsty Robinson agreed to join the committee on a trial basis as Treasurer. Kirsty works at a local company Nine Feet Tall and is already showing her value to the club.
The club is in a healthy financial position but we are not resting on our laurels and we are looking to improve our planning and budgeting as we move forward into 2015

The club continues to enhance its reputation as a key Bath location for people to hold their social occasions with bookings into 2016. We are looking at the cricket season activity and both food and drinks offerings should see some changes in the forthcoming season.

John Ruddick Pavilion

We are continuing to look at plans for the future of the site of the old JR Pavilion and hope to have some news in the next couple of months.
