At a small ceremony today Somerset Legend Peter Wight reopened the newly named Bath Indoor Cricket Centre. The indoor centre was originally built using money from Peter's benefit at Somerset CCC. He then spent 35 years coaching at the Indoor school before retiring on 1995. The centre was then handed to the club but became more and more difficult to maintain and was closed in 2008.
There were plans to knock down the centre and only when builders were asked to have another look at the structure were plans drawn up to refurbish the school.
Ian Shrubsole along with Rob Maggs and Mark Thorburn and working with Andy Fairburn from Somerset CCC were able to obtain the maximum grant from Sport England under the Inspired Facilities scheme. The club were then fortunate to receive kind donations from the Stoyle family and Pete Smith which then enabled the club to complete a stunning refurbishment.
The newly named Bath Indoor Cricket Centre offers the local community a fantastic two lane indoor centre dedicated to cricket.
