Management committee needs trustees

At this years AGM which takes place on 12th November several trustees positions will become vacant and we need members to put themselves forward to fill these positions. The club's management committee (MC) is currently made up of seven trustees who preside over the clubs activities. The commitment is formally to attend monthly MC meetings and to be in and around the club as much as possible.

Below are the three positions which are due to become vacant and also a fourth which is possibly to become vacant.

Chairman

The current Chairman is Andrew Linnett and due to family and work commitments is standing down at the AGM. The Chairman heads up the MC and is probably the key position on the club. This position does take up a considerable amount of time but is extremely rewarding.

Treasurer

The treasurer position has been held for a year by Kirsty Robinson as a co-opted member but a move of location with her work has meant she is unable to stand for a trustees position. The treasurer should have some financial experience in accounting/book keeping and works with the club administrator to help maintain the clubs accounts. This position would require attendance at the club for one day a month as well as the monthly MC meeting.

Playing members rep

This position should be the link from the players to the MC and should regularly canvas their views and provide them with an insight into the Management of the club. This position is currently held by former 1st XI Captain Tom Stayt who is standing down for family reasons

Non playing members rep

The Non playing members rep is a similar role to that of the playing members rep but should be canvassing the non playing members. This position has been held for many years by Louise Thomson who is considering her position currently.

The remaining trustees are the President Pat Colbourne, Cricket Director Matt Hankins and Financial Director Akhil Chokra.

It is vital to the governance of the club that the committee is fully manned and proactive within the club. The process of being nominated is fairly simple in that a notice will be posted in the clubhouse on the 8th October for 21 days prior to the AGM with each position that is vacant being listed. Nominees need to be proposed and seconded by members of the club. If single candidates are nominated for a position then they are elected at the AGM if more than one person is listed then a vote will be conducted at the AGM.

Anyone who requires more information please email the Chairman Andrew Linnett using his email.
