New players for 2013

Jordan Price is one of several players who have joined Bath CC at the start of the 2013 season. Each player has answered a few questions to help us all to get to know them.

Here's the first few which have come back:

Ben-Copp
Name: Benjamin Copp

Age : 29

Occupation : Sales/Marketing for BRC, a company in the alternative fuels industry.

Where do you come from? And where is home now?
I grew up in Seaton and Axminster. East Devon will always be 'home' but I moved to this area 2 years ago and live in North Bradley now.

Describe yourself as a cricketer :
Right arm medium pace/swing bowler, Hoggard wannabe without the hairdo. Occasional wielder of a heavy bat.
Where have you played previously? Mostly in the Devon leagues with Seaton, then a couple of seasons with Carmarthen Wanderers in the South Wales League and a few games at Palm Beach whilst working in Queensland, Australia.

What is your finest moment (s) as a cricketer (to date)?
My best performance probably came in a low scoring game against Bovey Tracey whilst at Seaton, we bowled them out cheaply for 130, I took 3 for 15, all caught at 3rd slip. We collapsed in reply and I ran our captain out leaving us 9 wickets down and well short of the target. There was some friction between the teams from a previous game and I received a lot of sledging but ended up on 20-odd not out and hit the winning runs.

How come you have ended up at Bath CC?
For the experience of playing at a big club with high standards. The ground looks great and having seen pictures of the clubhouse I don't think I have come across better looking facilities. Maggsy has made me feel welcome and it only took a couple of nets to decide to play here.

Is there anyone at Bath CC that has already made an impression on you?
I've been impressed with the overall standard and application of all the players, I'm still getting to know everyone but Lloyd, Letts, Ted have stood out and Simon Marchant looks a quality bowler. The young keeper/batsman Pat is a class above any player I have seen at his age.

Football or rugby? What team?
Football, Manchester United

Last book you read and/or film you watched?
last book I read was Don't Blink by James Patterson, the last film I saw was Seven Psychopaths.

Favourite place you have ever visited?
Glen Forrest, WA. We nearly emigrated there when I was 10 after spending a few months living with relatives. The bobtail lizards, spiders and kangeroos were far more exciting than the cold, seagull infested seaside town I was used to

Predicted Ashes score this Summer?

How come you have ended up at Bath CC? I wanted to join when I first moved to Bath 4 years ago, but due to work commitments I wasn’t able to, there was only one club I wanted to play for so am pleased to have joined now.

Where do you come from? And where is home now?
Bristol and Bristol

Describe yourself as a cricketer:Where have you played previously?
Old Bristolians most recent club a couple of seasons ago and played some Sunday cricket last season for childhood team (UBH). Also captain and manage a Last Man Stands team who won the Bristol Championship undefeated (The Association).

What is your finest moment (s) as a cricketer (to date)?
Drinking until 4am while on holiday in South Africa last year only to get up for an 8am start the same morning and bowling a hat trick in my first over, all caught in the slips. Needless to say I was dying by 11am when the heat ramped up but still lasted the 50 overs in the field and 6 overs in the middle as the #11 to allow our opener to score the winning runs in 34 degrees and no shade.

How come you have ended up at Bath CC?
Playing Premier League cricket in South Africa spurred me to get back into club cricket seriously and Chris Fortune (one of the WEPL umpires) suggested Bath CC as a great club that will help me maximise my potential and provide a good opportunity to play in the WEPL again.  I also live next to Temple Meads so logistically it’s very easy for me to get to training unlike with my previous clubs in the middle of nowhere!

Is there anyone at Bath CC that has already made an impression on you?

Crispin-Shingler

Name : Crispin Shingler

Age: 37

Occupation: Customer Service Operator at the University of Bath Innovation Centre

Where do you come from? And where is home now?
I have come from London and home is now Bath.

Describe yourself as a cricketer:
I am an outswinging bowler who is sharp in the field, keeps his head with the bat and likes to encourage the banter.

Where have you played previously?
Old Wimbledonians Cricket Club

What is your finest moment (s) as a cricketer (to date)?
My finest moment as a cricketer came when I captained the development side at my last club. We had a highly inexperienced but very eager team of U14s and U13s playing in a very strong Surrey Trust League that constituted of mainly U19s. Needless to say our heads dropped as the game ran away from us in the field as we defended our total. However, I approached each player individually to talk tactics and strengths and as we pulled ourselves back into the game we were able to to give the opposition a run for their money. Despite not winning the game, the young lads beat their inner demons to produce a sterling game of cricket.

How come you have ended up at Bath CC?
Each time I pulled into Bath on the train from London I would see the cricket ground in all its glory, and having read about the coaching that takes place at the club, I knew where I wanted to play my cricket.

Is there anyone at Bath CC that has already made an impression on you?
