News in Brief : November 2013

Ahead of next week's Management Committee meeting, which is likely to prompt some more talking points / news items, it might be useful to share some bits of news so - in no particular order........

Tom and Siobhan tie the knot

The new Mr. and Mrs. Stayt were married at Wellington Barn, Calstone on 12th October and have now returned from their honeymoon in Thailand. Our congratulations and best wishes are extended to the happy couple

Money Wise Sponsorship

Part of the exciting deal which sees Money Wise become Bath CC's (first) main sponsor for the next three years involves every player for the club - youth and senior, male and female - wearing a new playing shirt displaying the Money Wise logo from the start of the 2014 season. We are currently investigating a new-style playing shirt which we will want all players to buy (at cost price) and that shirt will then become each playing member's contribution to the regeneration of the North Parade Indoor Cricket Centre. More details to follow.

2014 Membership

The club are currently investigating the best options possible for online payment of membership fees. The new system will hopefully be in place very soon, allowing youth players (initially) to register quickly and easily ahead of winter training.

Winter Training

It is anticipated that nearly all our winter training - youth and senior groups- will take place at the brand new North Parade Indoor Cricket Centre in the New Year. There is a draft plan in place at the moment of when these groups will train, although this may well be subject to changes. It my be useful to know that the draft plan is roughly as follows :
Girls : Monday 5-8pm, 3rds and 4ths : Tuesday 6-8pm, U15 : Wednesday 6-7pm, 1st and 2nds : Wednesday 6-8pm (at Beechen Cliff), U13s : Thursday 5-8pm, U11s Friday 5-8pm, Wanderers : Selected Sundays.

Tough starts for 1st and 2nd XI

WEPL fixtures are already out for 2014 and Bath face tough tests against Frocester (1st team at home) and Bristol (1st team away) in the first two weeks of the new season. Whilst no games can ever be taken for granted, there are certain opponents that we especially look out for so it may be of interest to know that Bridgwater visit North Parade on 19th July and Corsham are here on 14th June, whilst the corresponding away fixtures take place on 24th May and 9th August. If the league season goes to the wire, Bath will face a trip to 2013 runners-up Frocester on the final Saturday of the season.

CricketBath already in action

There are so many things that Bath CC organise which go largely unseen, so it may be interesting to know that Jon Green has already completed a 5 week block of coaching in 4 Primary schools in the BANES area as part of the K2CC scheme. This scheme provides weekly cricket coaching for children within their school for a term at a time and often links to kwik cricket festivals and tournaments during the summer months. St. Johns in Keynsham plus St. Andrews and Swainswick in Bath are currently receiving sessions.

In addition, the CricketBath "Advanced" coaching course is about to start at Beechen Cliff School with a large cohort of students already enrolled.
