28th January 2010Bath pair named in England Academy Squad
Bath players Fran Wilson and Izzy Westbury have been picked as part of a 13-strong England Women's Academy Squad who are going to the Indian High Performance Centre in Bangalore in March. They have trained as part of a larger academy squad so far this winter and have impressed enough to be chosen by coach, Paul Shaw, to be part of the travelling group.
Fran has been with Bath for all her cricketing life and has progressed quickly through the teams until she has become a fixture at No.4 in the Wanderers batting line up. A member of the top programme, 18 year old Fran was the highest run scorer for the women in 2009 and she is an electric fielder, often found patrolling the cover point area.
Izzy is an off-spinning all-rounder who has been at Bath for 4 years, after spending much of her life in the Netherlands, where she has previously represented the national team. Currently at Oxford University, Izzy broke her arm shortly before the 2009 season which meant her influence was slightly less significant than 2008 when she was the team's stand-out bowler.
