8th March 2010Sport Relief - 7 Bath CC Players Rowing The Mouth Of The English Channel - 112 miles

We're rising to the challenge for Sport Relief. Please sponsor us.

7 current Bath Cricket Club players have decided to row the mouth of the English Channel to raise money for Sport Relief!

Choosing the shortest point was going to be too easy, so they've decided to row the 'mouth of the channel', a distance of 180km (112 miles) running from Land's End to Urshant, on the west coast of France.

The team consists of Tom Stayt, Rob Maggs, Tom Baker, Steve Griffiths, Ben Staunton, Mike Roe and Mark Thorburn. They expect it to take nearly 15 hours, and that is if they go at a reasonably quick pace all day! Unfortunately, the conditions at sea are looking dodgy for the Saturday 20th March, so they've reluctantly taken the decision to row indoors.

They will be using one rowing machine to complete the challenge and will be doing so at Bath Cricket Club, starting at 7am. It is going to be a huge effort and they would really like to raise as much money as possible for a great cause. Please give what you can and feel free to come and support them on the day or you could even give your support by taking over the rowing machine for 5 minutes and donate £5 to help the rowers reach their destination. There will be tea and coffee available throughout the day and it would be great to see you!

The money you give will help people living incredibly tough lives both at home in the UK and across the world's poorest countries. Thank you for all your support! The Bath CC rowing team.
