10th March 2010Joyful singing heard in the clubhouse
Sunday 7th March - a fresh, chilly yet bright sunny day.
The clubhouse had been taken over by the well known City of Bath Male Choir - finalists last year in the BBC1 TV programme 'Last Choir Standing'.
The Choir had given the Bath Half-Marathon runners a great and appropriate send off by a rendition of The Irish Blessing:
"May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be ever at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face
And the rain fall soft upon your fields ..."
Thankfully, no rain fell on the day as forty members of the Choir joined forces with over 11,000 other runners in the half-marathon. Together, they raised around £10,000 for charity before returning to the Club weary and aching to be scrubbed down, fed and watered in a lovely warm and relaxing atmosphere. They all expressed their gratitude to the Club for th use of the comfortable facility and rewarded everyone, including full families, children wives mums and dads, grandparents and other relatives, with some glorious singing in celebration of a worthy day.
Why not plan a great day out on Saturday 1st May!
Visit the Club for the first premier league match of the season against Taunton Deane (starting at 12.30pm) and then go and listen to the Choir, with star TV presenter Aled Jones, at the Bath Forum in the evening - it's a great sound!
