Pat Colbourne

President

Born 1940 at Uckfield in East Sussex; educated at Eastbourne College and Culham College Oxford.  Teacher at Beechen Cliff School (1966 to 1996) and joined Bath CC in 1967. Cricket playing includes Sussex CCC 2nd XI, Somerset CCC 2nd XI, Eastbourne CC 1st XI and Bath CC 1st XI. Bath CC coach for 25 years, National Staff Coach (1989-2000) and Head Coach, Bath Schools Cricket Foundation (1988-1996). Cricket administration includes Chairman of Youth Committee, Somerset Cricket Board (1996-2006); Chairman, Somerset Schools Cricket Association (1996-2007); Member of ECB Think Tank for Club and School Cricket (1997-2006); Chairman, Bath CC (1994-1996);  President and Trustee, Bath CC (2003-). A Life Member of the Club.  Member of Rotary Club of Bath since 1998 and President in 2006/07.  Other interests include producer/editor of Bath CC 'The Parade in Print' magazine, member of City of Bath Male Choir, genealogy and long-distance walking.  Enjoys very much his two sons and two grandchildren.

Mike Roe

Chairman

Mike was born near Leicester and educated at Frome College and the University of Glamorgan (BA in Police Studies).  A police officer for 26 years, he became Chief Superintendent, including the most challenging role of Bristol Police Commander for the Avon & Somerset Constabulary.  He is now CEO of Footdown, a leadership and mentoring organisation, and also a Governor of the City of Bath College.  Cricket playing has included West of England U16, Somerset U19, Avon & Somerset police and the British police.  He joined Bath CC in 1989, was 1st XI captain from 1995 to 1999 and has been 2nd XI captain for the last 8 years.  Mike has been in various management roles at the Club and Chairman for the past 6 years; his Vice President award has been superceded by his election in 2007 as a Life Member.  Other interests include playing football (after 15 years with Stothert & Pitt FC, he now plays for Ston Easton FC), following Bath Rugby, cinema, and holidays with Mandy.

I have been at Bath CC since 1989, having joined from Bath Civil Service CC.
I have been fortunate to play during the club's most highly successful period and have included two cup final appearances at Lords in my career.
As my playing abitlity has declined I have become more involved behind the scenes as Cricket Director since .......... as well as performing a management role within the female side of the club.

Louise Thomson

Non-Playing Members' Representative
Born in Ipswich, educated in Luton and gained a BA Hons degree in English Literature from the University of York. Previous careers in Public Relations and Estate Agency, Louise now works for a leading Architectural practice, based on the outskirts of Bath. She was introduced to Bath Cricket Club over eleven years ago by her cricket-mad son and has gradually become more and more enthusiastic about all aspects of the game. Past manager of youth teams for every age group, Louise has a particular interest in the development of cricket for young people in the community. Awarded the Ossie Tasker Memorial Trophy for Clubman of theYear in 2005, Louise was made a Vice-President of the Club in the same year and now enjoys her role as a member of the Management Committee. Louise is Deputy Editor of the Club magazine, a part-time scorer and a general all-rounder. Other interests include music (a retired cornet player and current member of Bath Community Gospel Choir), theatre and literature, especially Victorian novels.

Arthur Chapman

Finance Director
Arthur A. Chapman FRICS (Born 1929), Bathonian, survived Bath Blitz; attended Bath Technical School.  Served two years as Surveyor R.A. then trainee quantity surveyor with Nixey, Jordan in 1946 and retired as Senior Partner in 1992.  President, Bath Chamber of Commerce 1974.  Member of Rotary Club of Bath for 32 years; President in 1984.  Played junior league cricket for Bath St. Johns.  Joined Bath CC in early 1970's and always an active volunteer; Treasurer for 25 years.  A Life Member of the Club.  Other interests include member of the Royal Photographic Society (has 480 photos on English Heritage website -Images of England listings), active member of Methodist Church and Treasurer of W. of E. branch of Cricket Society. Married Dilys in 1958 (now sadly a widower) and has a son and daughter.

Andrew Linnett

Playing Members' Representative and Website Administrator

Appointed to the Management Committee in November 2009.  Professional Photographer with the Ministry of Defence.  Born in 1970 and a proud Essex man. Educated at Notley High School in Braintree and then Barking College obtaining a BTEC in photography. Played cricket for Braintree 1980-1993 then moved to Bath in 1994 playing in two successful 2nd XI championship sides and in the 3rd XI involved in North Somerset League progress from Div 9 to Div 1.  Fixture Secretary for 5 years and now Website Administrator for 9 years, including setting-up the original website. Keen Badminton player for Chippenham in Mid Wilts League and supporter of Ipswich Town (Andrew remembers when they were good!).  Married to the ever patient Emma with three children covering all aspects of childhood - stroppy teenager, demanding daughter of 8 and destroyer-of-all-things 5 year old boy.  Still hopeful of 3rd XI comeback (don't worry Emma doesn't look at this site!), maybe in 2010 when 40.

Mark Kingwell

Club Manager (and Fixture Secretary)

Mark has spent most of his working life in the hospitality business.  After helping his father to run the White Hart at Widcombe and achieving a Diploma in Catering at the City of Bath College, Mark has worked at Berni Inns in London, helped run the family-owned Georgian Guest House in Bath, and has been Catering Manager at the Bath Pump Rooms and Sports & Leisure Centre; he has also operated his own shop and wine bar.  From 1994, he has developed the now substantial 'Tastes on Parade' catering business at the Club.  Mark is responsible for all the business activities and property maintenance at the Club - and is also Fixture Secretary. Mark was a 'bite yer legs' full-back in his footballing days, has twice run the Bath Half-Marathon and still runs - occasionally!.  He is an avid sports fan.  Married to Alison with two sons and one daughter.

Club Administrator
Educated at Kingswood Grammar School and the Universities of Reading and West Indies (Trinidad).  Joined the Club in 1995 on returning to the area after a 30 year business and general management career with Shell International, including spells in Australia and Kenya.  A Management Committee Member from 1998 after being invited to place the car park on a business footing and produce the first 'Performance Improvement' Club Plan.  Awarded the Ossie Tasker Memorial Trophy as Clubman of the Year in 2002 and 2007.  Club Administrator and Company Secretary from the 2003 conversion to charitable status.  As a lapsed agricultural botanist, the bane of Gordon Gill's life!  Other interests include current affairs, orchids, pottering, sport (mainly rugby, cricket and soccer), and family. Married to Pat with two sons, one daughter and three grandchildren.

Youth Coaching Co-ordinator
Educated at Beechen Cliff School and Durham University.  Mark has played for Bath CC since 1989 and 1st XI from 1997 (Captain, 2007-); also played for Bath Schools Cricket Foundation (Captain of Agentina & Chile tour, 1995), Somerset CCC (U15 to 2nd XI), Durham University CCE, British Universities and Hampshire CCC.  Mark is an ECB Level 3 coach with coaching experience at Beechen Cliff School, Bath CC U15-2, University of Bath, and as Assistant Coach at Gloucestershire CCC Academy; he has also been performance analyst for Gloucestershire CCC and England U19's.  His current professional aim is to further improve the youth activity at the Club and, through Cricketbath, to increase participation in, and improve standards of, youth cricket in the city, with better school-club links.  Other interests (alongside cricket, cricket and cricket) include films, good food, and criminal behaviour and events.  Married his childhood sweetheart, Helen, in September 2007.  email

Rob Maggs

Cricket Manager

Educated at Somervale Secondary School, Midsomer Norton and subsequently qualified as ECB Level 3 and Staff Coach.  Player for Purnells CC (1986-2004), Somerset Youth (1992) and Mosman CC, Australia (1997).  Rob is a self-employed coach and runs coaching sessions in many schools in Somerset.  Other coaching experience includes youth at Somerset CCC, South West Leg Spin Group, South West Academy, Claverham CC and ECB Junior Academy.  Joined Bath CC in 2007.  Rob wants to raise standards by ensuring all players have to compete for team places and help the Club get to a Lords final - and win!  Married to Jess.  Other interests include football, cooking, and fine food & wine.

Gordon Gill

Head Groundsman
Gordon was educated at Westbury Secondary Modern School and has been associated with Westbury & District CC since 1965.  He played at all levels (a total of 987 matches, 540 in the 1st XI) as a fast bowler (with over 1500 wickets, including '5 for' more than 50 times) who could bat a bit (highest score was 107 not out and scored 15 fifties).  Gordon was volunteer groundsman for over 20 years and he is now a Life Member at Westbury.  He was trained as a mechanic and spent his early working life with British Road Services at Melksham before becoming a HGV Class 1 driver at Tesco's Westbury depot.  In 1999, Gordon started his own cricket ground maintenance contracting business and joined the Club in 2003.  He has attended numerous groundsmanship courses and has IOG level 2 & 3 qualifications, and is an ECB Pitch Advisor.  He won the Pitchcare National Club Groundsman of the Year award in 2006 and topped the WEPL pitch quality list in 2008.  At the family home in Westbury, Gordon is partnered by Susan, and has sons Jonathan and Daniel.

Assistant Groundsman

Educated at Beechen Cliff School.  Played cricket for Somerset CCC (1992-1996), Stratford CC Australia (1993-1995), Sale Maffra Australia (1995), Lansdown CC (1991-1998), and Bath CC (1999-); as 1st XI captain in 2002-03, the team was WEPL Champions and Cockspur National Club Championship finalists at Lords.  ECB Level 3 qualified coach and youth coaching experience includes Somerset CCC (1995-2006), Gloucestershire CCC Academy (2005-05), South West Academy (2004-07) and Bath CC (2000-).  Assistant Groundsman since 2005, mainly looking after the Brownsword Ground, and Coach Educator from 2007 to ensure high coaching standards throughout the Club.  Married to Rachel with three young children.  Other interests include photography and golf.

Mandy Roe

Office Supervisor
After seven years working for Midland Bank and marrying Mike, Mandy raised their two sons, Duncan and Ted, before returning part-time to banking with HSBC in 1993.  A member and active vounteer for many years at Bath CC, including U11 and U15 Team Manager, and was awarded the Ossie Tasker Memorial Trophy as Clubman of 2001.  Mandy is a Vice President of the Club.  Employed by the Club from 1998 to look after the administration and accounts, and has completed the 2nd level Diploma of Association of Accounting Technicians.  In 2008, completed a trek in South africa in aid of Breast Cancer Care. Other interests include holidays, shopping, cinema, eating-out and partying.

Alison Kingwell

Hospitality Supervisor
Alison, being married to the Club Manager, claims to have been "chief cook and bottle washer" at the Club for the past 16 years or so!  In fact,  Alison has made a significant contribution, both 'front  of house' and in the kitchen, to the growth and success of the 'Tastes on Parade' hospitality service.  Apart from a spell raising young children, Alison and Mark have mostly been 'work partners' - it works for some couples! Other interests include reading, walking and gardening - but most of all being a mum to James, Stuart and Claire.

Terry Harper

Car Park Supervisor
Educated at Fitzmaurice Grammar School, Bradford on Avon and career spanned 37 years with Avon Rubber with responsibility for shipping/distribution of tyre products to all overseas markets.  Terry has been a Club member for 25 years and played until 1996 when he retired having been 3rd XI captain; also made a major contribution to youth coaching and development over the years.  A Vice President of the Club.  After early retirement, Terry has been employed at the Club since 1999 with responsibility for car park supervision.  Main interests include ballroom dancing, outdoor sports, theatre and overseas travel.  Married to Denise with three children and one grandchild.

Diana Gibney

Club Archivist
Born in Newton Abbot but lived near Cambridge from 8 years old. Diana came from a cricket loving family and watched the University play when Dexter and Brearley were amongst the players of the future. Worked in libraries in or near London and, whilst studying for library qualifications, did a bibliography on cricket which involved working in the library at Lord's.  Diana met husband, John, when he was teaching in London; he was a Bathonian and belonged to Bath CC from 12 years old and played for the Club.  After her wedding in 1968, she moved to Bath and son, David, also played for Bath until he left home (and still plays for Woking and Horsall). She worked in the library at the University of Bath for 18 years and the University Archivist has been instrumental in setting up the archive at Bath CC. Diana enjoys watching cricket, rugby and tennis, and is Secretary of the Bath & Wiltshire area committee of Somerset CCC.

Head Bar Tender

Born and bred in Kosice, Slovakia, Rado finished his studies and decided to move to the UK for the summer.  This planned short visit has turned into 5 years so far!  He has made Bath his home, having also experienced living in Bristol and Manchester for short periods.  Of course, Rado still goes home to Slovakia regularly to spend time with his family, and also visits his elder brother who lives in Lanzarote.  He has trained in hospitality and tourism, and has worked in numerous restaurants and bars before joining the Club.  Rado's passions in life are free-ride mountain biking, music, partying (and flirting!) - and may be he will add cricket to the list in future!
