Bath CC 1st XI v Downend CC 1st XI

Bath’s 1st XI travelled to Bristol to face Downend CC 1st XI on Saturday. After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Bath openers got off to a flying start reaching 39 inside the first five overs before losing Jack Scrivens for 22. Kester Moseley then joined Brad Porteous and built an important second wicket partnership of 81 before Porteous went for a run-a-ball 60. Sam Young (24) and Moseley (51) batted effectively together to build another partnership of 48, but when both of these batters were out, the Bath innings fell away as the away side slipped from 171-4 to 219 all out in the 45th over of the innings.

Despite Will Hope removing opener Cyrus Shafi for a duck, the Downend top order batted sensibly, with fellow opener Masoor Khan anchoring the innings. Khan firstly built a partnership of 105 with Zaman Shafi (31) and although Jordan Garrett went for 15, Callum Loud joined Khan and hit a rapid 57 not out as Khan posted an undefeated 103 before the pair took the home side to victory by 7 wickets. Bath have slipped down to 5th in Premier One after this result.
