Bath CC 1st XI lost by six wickets on Saturday in their away match against Potterne CC 1st XI.

After being asked to bat first, Bath lost Jack Scrivens (13) early to leave the away side 22-1, and when Kester Moseley (2), Sam Young (3) and Brad Porteous (32) soon followed Bath had slipped to 58-4 in the 16th over.

Church and skipper Harry Ellison then added another 30 runs before Church (10) was run out, and Ellison soon followed for a bright 32. At 106-6, Bath looked in a lot of trouble but Will Hope (36), Spencer Gammon (37), Louis Brown (33*) and Matthew Cadywould (28*) took the Bath score up to 258-8 from 50 overs.

With a score to bowl at, Bath were focused on getting early wickets, but openers Jake Goodwin and Basil Akram put on 78 for the first wicket before Akram went for a rapid 45. Goodwin then added a further 66 with Jack Mynott before Louis Brown picked up Goodwin for 57. At 142-2 the home side looked in the driving seat and although the wickets of Josh Kelly (2) and Michael Burgess (29) were picked up by Joe Heywood, Mynott went on to record an undefeated century (105*) to take Potterne to victory with over 10 overs still to be bowled. Bath 1st XI remain fourth in the league after this loss.
