Bath CC 1st XI v Taunton St Andrews CC 1st XI
Bath CC 1st XI continued their unbeaten league run against Taunton St Andrews at North Parade on Saturday. After skipper Harry Ellison won the toss and elected to bat, the home side lost opener, Jack Scrivens (9) with only 25 on the board. Brad Porteous (37) and Charlie Brain (8) took Bath’s score past 50, but the introduction of the pace of Ollie Heard (4-42) bowled both batters inside two overs. But then, Bath’s in-form, Sam Young (76) and later in the innings, Will Hope (47) batted well with the middle and lower order to take the home sides total up to 285-9 from their 50 overs.
Taunton’s reply never really got going as they slipped to 19-2 inside the first six overs. Bath’s seam attack kept up the pressure throughout taking regular wickets ably supported by some excellent slip catching. With no Taunton batter passing 20, Bath bowled the away side out for just 112 in under 30 overs. The Bath bowlers that did the damage included Spencer Gammon (3-15), George Axtell (2-20) and Louis Brown (2-14). Bath picked up a maximum 20 points to remain top of Premier One.
