Bath CC 1st XI v Taunton St Andrews CC 1st XI
Bath CC 1st XI recorded an away win against Taunton St Andrews 1st XI on Saturday.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Bath lost Jack Scrivens (4) early, but fellow opener, Ben Wells then took hold of the innings to be the dominant batter in a series of partnerships. Wells was eventually the seventh wicket to fall in the 45th over of the Bath innings, for an incredible 134, which included 14 fours and eight sixes. Contributions down the order from Will Hope (34*) and Spencer Gammon (16*) then took the away side up to a competitive 253-7 from their 50 overs.
Taunton St Andrews had the worst of starts, as they lost both openers for ducks, but then Gabe Gallman-Findlay and Ben Mason successfully rebuilt the innings with a stand of 125 before Mason was caught and bowled for 59 off the bowling of Louis Brown (3-31). When Gallman-Findlay soon followed for 77, the match was in the balance with 16 overs to go and 100 runs still required. Although there were some contributions from batters down the order, Bath continued to apply pressure and take regular wickets to eventually bowl out the home side for 214, to record a 39 run win. Other Bath bowlers to impress included James Arney (3-37) and Kester Moseley (2-25). Bath have moved up to third in Premier One as a result of this win.
