Bath CC 1st XI were knocked out of the first round of the ECB National Club Championship on Sunday after losing by 15 runs to Usk CC 1st XI at North Parade. After Usk posted 243-7 from their 40 overs, Bath got off to a positive start before Scrivens (12) went in the third over with 20 on the board. Despite Ben Church (10) soon departing, opener Brad Porteous and Sam Young then built what looked like a match winning partnership of 134 before both Porteous (92) and Young (62) were both out in the space of five balls to leave the home side 182-4. With just over 10 overs remaining in the match Bath required 61 runs for victory, but wickets continued to tumble and despite some lusty blows from some of the lower order, Bath fell agonisingly short when they were bowled out for 228 with just one ball to be bowled.
