Bath CC 2nd XI v Claverham (Yatton) CC 1st XI

Bath CC 2nd XI continued their winning run after beating Claverham (Yatton) CC 1st XI away on Saturday.

After losing the toss and being asked to field, Bath’s left arm spinner, Josh Sutton (2-17) made a great start by taking two early wickets to leave the home side 45-2. Opener, James Copeland remained and started to anchor the innings but when Copeland went for a fine 50, Claverham slumped from 95-4 to 155-9 from their 40 overs due to two inspired spells of bowling. Mo Hamza followed his six wickets last week, with 3-25 and Ross Newman picked up a hattrick in his four over spell of 3-16.

Although both Bath openers went relatively early, Charlie Brain, batting at number three, hit a fine undefeated 53 supported by Ishwar Suresh (20) and Ross Newman (31*) to take Bath home to a five wicket victory in the 37th over. Bath 2nd XI remain top of the league by 17 points as a result of this win.
