Bath CC 2nd XI v Claverham (Yatton) CC 1st XI
After claiming the league title last week, Bath CC 2nd XI lost to Claverham CC 1st XI on Saturday by 27 runs.
After Claverham won the toss and elected to bat first, the home side made a positive start before losing Olly Ralph (9). This brought Lloyd Richardson to the wicket to join James Copeland, and these two batters added a further 85 before Richardson (49) went one short of a half century. Copeland soon followed for 59, but despite Bath picking up regular wickets, an undefeated 50 from Callum Watts ensured that the home side posted a competitive 221-7 from their 45 overs. Pick of the Bath bowlers was Hamish Bell (3-30).
Bath’s reply stuttered as they quickly slipped to 40-4, but 49 from opener Mike Staves helped get the away sides total up to 83-5 when he was out. Contributions from Ben Harper (29), Harry Allen (43) and Ross Newman (33) were never quite enough as Bath were bowled out in the 43rd over for 194.
