Bath CC 2nd XI v Coalpit Heath CC 1st XI

Bath CC 2nd XI played hosts to Coalpit Heath CC 1st XI on Saturday at North Parade. After losing the toss and being asked to bat, the home side lost Josh Norgrove (8) early and when Kester Moseley (12) was trapped in front, Bath were 42-2 and in desperate need of a partnership. Skipper Charlie Rustell joined young batter, Sam Price and quickly took charge of the innings, smashing 57 from just 41 balls before he was run out with the score on 119-3. Price went on to post a steady half century (51) as Harry Allen chipped in with an important 34 not out to help Bath up to a defendable, 195 all out.

Coalpit Heath’s reply was hampered by the early loss of Chris Cooke (2), and although the away sides top five batters all made starts, Bath’s tight bowling ensured that they picked up regular wickets throughout the innings. In particular, the spin combination of Harry Allen (2-36) and Josh Sutton (4-28) took control of the match, as Bath eventually bowled the away team out for 152 in the 38th over. As a result of this win, Bath remain top of the B&D Senior Division by eight points to Winterbourne 1st XI.
