Bath CC 2nd XI v Golden Hill CC 2nd XI

Bath CC 2nd XI travelled to Golden Hill on Saturday to face the Bristol sides 2nd XI. After Golden Hill won the toss and elected to bat, the home sides batters got off to a very steady start on a very dry wicket before the left arm spin of Josh Sutton removed Owen Hewlett (27). Fellow opener Hugo Highams (7) soon followed, bowled by the pace of Sam Barnes (2-11), but the spinners then took control of the match. Harry Allen (3-13) and Joe Weare (4-41) combined well to restrict Golden Hill to just 129 when they were bowled out in the 43rd over.

Bath’s reply got off to the worst start as Josh Norgrove (4) was bowled, but then the young opener, Sam Price and Kester Moseley batted steadily together to take the away sides total to 78 before Moseley was trapped in front for a useful 31. Although Bath lost Charlie Rustell and Hamish Bell in quick succession, Harry Allen (11*) capped off a fine all-round match by helping Price (57*) past the Golden Hill target in the 32nd over to win by six wickets. Bath 2nd XI picked up 19 points and are still in second place in the league.
