Bath CC 2nd XI recorded a convincing home win against Golden Hill 2nd XI on Saturday.
After being asked to bat first, Bath’s openers, Sam Price and Mike Staves made a steady start before Staves went for 25, to leave the home side 35-1. Price then followed for a steady 20 before Charlie Brain (78), Charlie Rustell (25) and Hamish Bell (51) all batted positively to take the Bath score up to 249-5 from their 45 overs.
Golden Hill’s innings never really got going as they lost Joe Woodworth early as Josh Sutton (3-38) combined well with Ben Chapman (1-11) to leave the away side 50-4. Young seamer, Rhys Baker then bowled with good pace to pick up 4-25 and at the other end Mo Hamza picked up 2-31 to eventually bowl out Golden Hill for 115 in the 30th over. This 134 run victory means that Bath 2nd XI remain top of the Senior Division by 28 points.
