Bath CC 2nd XI v Hanham CC 1st XI
Bath CC 2nd XI won by 28 runs against Hanham CC 1st XI at North Parade on Saturday.
After being asked to bat first, Bath lost Joe Weare (0) early to leave the home side 1-1, but then produced one of the most solid top order batting displays of the season as fellow opener, Kester Moseley (50), Charlie Brain (86) and skipper, Charlie Rustell (54) all recorded half centuries as they collectively took the score up to 210-4 when Brain was the fourth batter out. The middle order then took Bath’s total up to a very competitive 234-6 from their 45 overs.
Hanham’s reply started well with the openers putting on 26 before Will Paget (16) was caught and bowled by Ben Chapman (1-32). Fellow opener, Ross Robbins then anchored the innings to bat effectively with both Luke Stone (24) and Jack Alway. When Robbins went for 50, the away side were 124-4 in the 31st over still with an opportunity of picking up a win. Jack Alway continued to bat well, hitting a run-a-ball 78, but wickets continued to tumble around him as Harry Allen (2-30), Toby Eayres (2-40), Joe Weare (2-30), and Ross Neman (2-44) all combined well to control the run rate whilst picking up wickets. Eventually, Hanham ended their innings on 206-9, still 28 runs short of Bath’s total. As a result of this win, Bath 2nd XI remain top of the Senior Division with a 38 point lead.
