Bath CC 2nd XI v Stapleton CC 1st XI

Bath CC 2nd XI had a dominant home win against Stapleton CC 1st XI on Saturday at North Parade.

After winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Stapleton inched towards 22 off 11 overs before Edward Chidgey was dismissed by off spinner, Harry Allen for 11. This slow start set the tone for Stapleton’s innings as the Bath spinners, Allen (2-16) and Josh Sutton (2-27) kept a lid on run scoring and picked up regular wickets, and when seamer Kester Moseley bowled Ghulam Shabbir (20), the away side has slipped to 105-5, which soon became 105-6. Through Ashley Birkinshaw (23) and Pete Mounstephen (20*), Stapleton managed to reach an under par 170 from their 50 overs.

Bath’s response never looked in doubt as Campbell McKegg smashed 55 from just 32 balls, and Josh Norgrove (39) and Kester Moseley (48*) combined to take Bath 2nds home in the 29th over to win by 7 wickets, with 20 overs still to be bowled. Bath move up to third in the WEPL Bristol & North Somerset League as a result of this win.
