Bath CC 3rd XI v Bristol West Indian Phoenix CC 2nd XI
Bath’s 3rd XI continued their excellent season with a home win over Bristol West Indian Phoenix CC 2nd XI on Saturday.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Bath got off to a solid start before they lost Varchas Shivakumar (19) to leave the home side 32-1. Mike Staves (34) and Ben Harper (0) soon followed, but Sam Simmons (46) and Tim Scott (40) added a further 67 for the fourth wicket, and with a quick fire 25 from Charlie Pritchard, the home side posted a very competitive 230-9 from their 40 overs.
The reply from Bristol West Indian Phoenix stalled as they lost both openers with only 43 on the board. Muntasir Nayeem then hit a brisk 46 as wickets continued to fall around him, but when he became Finn Barnard-Weston’s first wicket (3-36), the away side were struggling on 110-6. Some further contributions from the lower order, particularly from Pollard (34) helped Bristol West Indian Phoenix edge closer to Bath’s total, but Bath eventually bowled them out with 205 on the board, and just 3 overs to be bowled. Skipper, Will Ireland put in a strong performance with the ball, recording match figures of 3-18, and Luke Welsh also bowled with good pace, to pick up 2-36. Bath 3rd XI have reclaimed top spot in Division 1 after Timsbury 1st XI lost on Saturday.
