Bath CC 3rd XI v Hambrook CC 1st XI

Bath’s 3rd XI recorded an away win on Saturday against Hambrook CC 1st XI.

After winning the toss, and choosing to field first, Bath picked up two early wickets to leave the home side 26-2. This soon became 38-3 when Peter Biggs (2-44) picked up the wicket of Aaron Todd (17). Although there were a number of double figure scores from the Hambrook batters, nobody other than Calum Martin (38*) really capitalised on their starts as the Bath bowlers combined well to restrict the home side to 186-8 from their 40 overs. Toby Eayres (1-22), Will Ireland (1-23) and Rich Pandya (1-12) all bowled well.

Bath’s chase started very well with one of the best opening stands of the season before Rich Pandya went for 38 with the score on 85-1. Although Bath lost a couple of quick wickets to leave them 110-3, opener Luke Stringer (66*) and Toby Eayres (36*) batted maturely together to take Bath over the line with 9 balls still to be bowled to record a six wicket victory. Bath 2nd XI are still top of the First Division with an eight point lead over Whitchurch CC 1st XI.
