Bath CC 3rd XI v Midsomer Norton CC 2nd XI
Bath’s 3rd XI lost their away match to Midsomer Norton CC 2nd XI on Saturday.
After winning the toss and asking the home side to bat first, Midsomer Norton made a good start before Carroll (26) was out. Tiger Sherred-Isles (8) soon followed, caught behind off the bowling of Peter Biggs (2-50) to leave Norton 52-2 in the seventh over. But then Martin Cox (26), Joshua Rudd (27), Ed Walker (33), Ben Bicknell (41), and Tyler Lane (34*) all combined well to take the home sides total up to a very competitive 253-7.
Although Bath lost Josh Norgrove (7) inside the first five overs, Luke Stringer and Mike Staves combined well to take the away sides total up to 98-2 when Staves went for a run-a-ball 40. Fed Stappard (1) soon followed, but Ben Harper and Luke Stringer continued to bat positively before Stringer (52) was run out. Unfortunately 125-4 soon became 142-6 as Sam Simmons (4) and Charlie Pritchard (8) found themselves back in the Pavillion. Wickets continued to tumble and when Harper (46) was also run out with just two overs to be bowled, Bath were 191-9. Last batter Peter Biggs was then bowled for 1, to leave Bath 192 all out in the 39th over, still 61 runs adrift of Midsomer Norton’s total. Despite two losses in a row, Bath 3rd XI remain top of the B&D First Division by just two points.
