Bath CC 3rd XI v Twyford House CC 2nd XI

Bath CC 3rd XI saved their performance of the season for their match against Twyford House CC 2nd XI at the Brownsword Ground on Saturday.

After winning the toss and asking Twyford House to bat first, the away side slipped to 30-2 before Zoravar Singh strode to the crease to play one of the knocks of the season. Batting effectively with Ben Beecroft (30) to contribute 98 to a 155 run third wicket partnership, Zoravar went on to hit 160 from only 101 balls with 17 fours and 8 sixes. Joe Prescott (4-52) was the pick of the Bath bowlers, as Twyford House concluded their innings on a commanding 297-5 from their 40 overs.

As Bath’s reply quickly slipped to 59-5 the writing looked like it was on the wall, before Tim Scott was joined by Innes Pierce with the Bath score on 94-7. This pair combined well to smash a 125 run eighth wicket partnership as Scott was out for 61 to leave Bath 219-8 with still 78 runs required. 15 year old, Peter Biggs (34*) then joined Pierce and a combination of big hitting and excellent running kept Bath in with a chance. With one run required off the last ball of the match, Pierce smashed a four over the top to win the match for Bath with an outstanding century, finishing 103 not out off 70 balls with 13 fours and 3 sixes. This performance of the season, to chase down over 200 runs when the home side were seven wickets down, has kept Bath 3rd XI top of the league with a 13 point lead.
