Bath CC 4th XI v Bristol Eagles CC 1st XI
Bath CC 4th XI’s lost their away match with Bristol Eagles on Saturday but fought hard for their five points.
After winning the toss and electing to field, Bath’s opening bowlers started well with Louis Russell (1-21) picking up an early wicket. The Eagles batters then continued to bat positively through skipper, Balachander (53) and Ramachandra (66). Bath’s spinners Veera Sasidharan and Andy Roberts picked up three wickets between them and controlled the middle overs well, but some lower order hitting from the Eagles took the home sides total up to 262-6 from their 40 overs.
In reply, openers Thiaan Aspeling and Mike Roe put on 51 for the first wicket before Aspeling (22) was bowled. Skipper, Roe then continued to anchor the innings as wickets tumbled around him, eventually posting an excellent half century before he was the seventh wicket to fall for an important 54.
