Bath CC 4th XI v Bristol Eagles CC 1st XI
Bath’s 4th XI lost by seven wickets on Saturday against Bristol Eagles CC 1st XI at the Brownsword Ground.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Bath started positively before Thiaan Aspeling (4) was out to leave the home side 19-1. This then became 19-2 as Dan Hope (0) went first ball. Opener David Pippett then batted effectively with Gaven Royce – adding 37 runs before Royce (17) was trapped in front, and then Allan Alex went first ball to leave the home side 69-4 with a lot of work to do. This brought the highly experienced, Mike Roe to the wicket to build an important 68 run partnership before Pippett went for 82. Roe then batted effectively with the middle and lower order to finish undefeated on an excellent 47, as Bath completed their 40 overs on 190-7.
Bristol Eagles characteristically started their reply in a positive fashion passing 50 without loss before Aravind Sundar was run out for 19. Yashwin R (57), Vasu Sabharwal (59) and Vipendeep Sing (34*) then continued to bat positively to take the Eagles to victory with eight overs still to be bowled. Despite the loss, Bath’s young seamers showed a lot of promise, with Christian Lodge (1-27) and Alex Moss (0-13) both bowling with good pace and accuracy.
