Bath CC 4th XI v Dyrham & Hinton CC 1st XI

Bath’s 4th XI won by five wickets on Saturday away against Dyrham & Hinton CC 1st XI.

After Dyrham & Hinton’s skipper, Andrew Lewis won the toss and chose to bat first, the home side made a steady start before Julian Sadgrove was bowled for 4 by Tom Stappard (1-12). The home side then slipped from 33-1 to 63-4 as the spin of Allan Alex (1-31) and Veera Sasidharan (2-21) started to strangle scoring opportunities. Although Richard Greenwood (31) and Lucas Pearce (33) batted effectively together, Bath continued to bowl well and pick up wickets, as Dyrham & Hinton finished their innings on 174-8 from their 40 overs.

Bath’s reply started positively with openers Thiaan Aspeling and David Pippett putting on almost 100 for the first wicket for the second week in a row, but Aspeling was bowled for an excellent 60. Wickets then started to tumble with Dan Hope (0), Alex Moss (1), Alan Alex (17), and Gaven Royce (8) all going as Pippett continued to anchor the innings. Mike Roe (6*) then joined Pippett with 19 required for victory, and the pair knocked off the runs with almost five overs in hand. Pippett finished on 66 not out. This win has helped keep Bath 4th XI mid table in the Sixth Division.
