Bath CC 4th XI v Pak Bristolians CC 2nd XI
Bath CC 4th XI’s home match against Pak Bristolians CC 2nd XI also went down to the last over.
After being put into bat, Bath’s innings got off to a slow start as the Pak Bristolians opening attack made the most of the favourable bowling conditions. After weathering the initial storm, Bath then lost Will Blackmore (7) and skipper, David Pippett (19) to leave the home side 39-2. Thiaan Aspeling (14) soon followed, but then Varchas Shivakumar and 4th XI debutant, George Timbrell-Whittle batted positively to take the Bath total past 100. Although Shivakumar (36) and Timbrell-Whittle (31) were out in consecutive overs, some positive batting from Mathan Balasubramaniyan (18) and Louis Russell (23) took Bath up to a competitive 173-8 from their 40 overs.
Pak Bristolians reply was put under immense pressure from a fine opening spell of bowling, and the away side found themselves 30-2, which soon became 63-4. But with the match in the balance, a partnership of 69 between Tanveer Ahmed and Shakeel Akhtar then put Pak Bristolians in a strong position. Although Akhtar went for 24, Ahmed with an undefeated 65 took the away side to a four wicket victory in the last over of their innings.
