Bath CC 4th XI v Pak Bristolians CC 2nd XI

Bath’s 4th XI lost by 18 runs on Saturday against Pak Bristolians CC 2nd XI at the Whitehall Playing Fields in Bristol.

After winning the toss and asking Pak Bristolians to bat first, the home side got off to a very positive start before Asad Abbas went for 15, and Israfiel Farooq (24) was bowled by leg spinner, Allan Alex. With Pak Bristolians 42-2 the match was nicely in the balance, and Bath continued to take wickets in regular intervals despite Mohsin Sajid (40) and Qasid Saleem (54) both posting fine knocks. In the end the home side finished on 180-8 from their 40 overs. Pick of the Bath bowlers were Allan Alex (1-19), Will Alexander (2-23) and Thiaan Aspeling (1-17).

Despite losing Thiaan Aspeling early, Bath’s reply looked in an excellent position at the mid-way point with Bath on 80-1, but after the break the away side lost Dan Hope (37) and David Pippett (56) as they slipped to 103-4 with 78 runs still required to win. Although Allan Alex (21) and Mike Roe (23*) batted positively down the order, Bath couldn’t quite get enough momentum into the innings to get across the line, and eventually fell 18 runs short at 162-7.
