Bath CC 4th XI v Thornbury CC 3rd XI
Bath CC 4th XI continued their strong start to the season as they put in a very dominant home performance against Thornbury CC 3rd XI on Saturday.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, skipper, David Pippett and opening partner, Tanay Rathod started to compile what became the highest league run partnership in the history of Bath CC. When Pippett went for 158, the two batters had compiled a massive 316 runs for the first wicket. Rathod then continued to bat effectively with both Louis Simonds-Gooding (38) and Gavin Royce (9*) to finish undefeated on 147, as Bath’s innings finished on a huge 385-2 from their 40 overs.
Thornbury’s reply started strongly with young openers, Charlie West and Hugo Slade putting on 58 for the first wicket, before Allan Alex (2-25) removed West (23). Soon after, James Slade (12) was caught and bowled by Alex to leave the away side 90-2. Some more tight bowling from the Bath spinners continued to put pressure on Thornbury’s batters and when Hugo Slade was trapped in front by Jack Pippett for a solid 66, the home side continued to struggle to finish 200-7, still 185 runs adrift of Bath’s score. After two wins from two, Bath’s 4th XI are now top of the league.
