Bath CC Wanderers 1st XI v Royal Wootton Bassett CC Royals
Bath Wanderers progressed to the Group 4 semi-finals of the Women’s Club Cup T20 competition on Sunday after beating Royal Wootton Bassett CC Royals at North Parade by just five runs. After being asked to bat first, Bath started well with Laila Moledina (25) and Katie Dolman (43) putting on 59 for the first wicket inside 11 overs. But tight bowling from the away team restricted the Wanderers to 103-4 from their 20 overs.
Wooton Bassett’s reply stuttered as they lost Rachel Feeney (4) with only four on the board. Thea Hopkins and Oshadhi Ranasinghe then took the score up to 48 in the 9th over before Hopkins went for 21. Although the away side was very much up with the run rate, Ranasinghe (19) soon followed to leave Wootton Bassett 61-3 after 12 overs. Despite Gaby Reeves scoring a run-a-ball 18, an inspired spell of bowling from Charlotte Phillips, picking up two wickets for just two runs in her two overs helped to seal victory for the Wanderers as Royal Wootton Bassett fell five runs short, finishing 98-6 from their 20 overs.
