Daggers won by 9 wickets

Venue:

Bath Daggers v Keynsham B

Bath Daggers v Keynsham B

Keynsham 102 all out (17.5 overs),  Bath Daggers 105 – 1 (12.3 overs)

On the evening of a hot dry day at the Brownsword ground, Keynsham batted first against a Daggers team reduced to nine players by unexpected injuries and absence.

The boys were rocked back by a fine opening spell from Rose T, who took three wickets in her first two overs, then a smart run out by Genevieve D left them 15-4 at the end of the 4th over.  The next three batters applied themselves well to progress their score into the 70s, before a steady fall of wickets shared between the bowling team again restricted the total, the return of Rose T (2.5 – 4 – 7) applying the coup de grace in the 18th over, Keynsham all out for 102.
An excellent performance by Daggers, the low number of extras conceded showing how well the bowlers and fielders are improving as the season goes on.

Opener India M (47 not out) led the reply, her stout defence and powerful hitting keeping the scoreboard moving despite the visitors’ efficient fielding.  Joined by Genevieve D (24 not out) at the fall of the first wicket, the girls maintained the pressure until a delightful drive to the long off boundary by India took them past their target in the 13th over and a 9 wicket wicket win!
