Bath Spears vs Brislington U11

Bath Spears vs Brislington U11

264-7 vs 268-7

Approaching the halfway point of the season the Spears travelled away to challenge a strong Brislington A’s side. Under the captaincy of Tilly K, the girls won the toss and elected to bat. Niamh Mc and Isobel P ensured the Spears were off to a flying start, pushing balls past the fielders and rotating strike regularly. Beth and Clara helped to keep the run rate elevated with their clear and decisive calling, capitalising on Brislington’s misfields and overthrows. Alice P and Sophia P demonstrated their patience, building on the previous weeks training of defending the good balls to preserve wickets and punish the bad balls. Altogether, the Spears posted a defendable score of 264-7.

The Spears enthusiastically set out to defend their score. Three wickets from Clara S, two from Jess P, and one each from Niamh Mc and Alice P saw the game decided in the last over. The Spears fell short of just one wicket, which saw Brislington sneak the lead and win the game by 4 runs.

Despite Brislington taking home the win, the Spears have demonstrated immense improvements throughout the season, considering the last time we played Brislington they beat us by 100+ runs. The girls should all be proud of their performances and the improvements they have made so far.
