Katanas v Lansdown

Bath lost the toss on another less than seasonal evening at the Brownsword and were put into bat.

F Stappard and J Blackburn opened the batting to start the innings off for the home side. Blackburn fell early in the second over to a good ball that bowled him on a tough wicket that was damp early on in the innings. Stappard soon started to accelerate early in his innings with which he continued to dominate hitting some wonderful shots to the boundary including two big sixes. L Russell was the next man in who played some lovely shots to the boundary! Russell was then shortly caught which brought captain O Salter. Salter and Stappard started to build a great partnership together which lasted around 10 overs in which they powerfully struck more boundaries and ran between the wickets well picking up singles off good balls which is something they have been working on at training. Both Salter  and Stappard lost their wickets in close succession which brought both Skelsey and Ball to the wicket to finish off Bath's innings with a floury of boundaries which saw Bath close the innings on 133-5 off 20 overs.

Pace bowlers R Durrance and N Leberman opened the bowling for Bath and started well by keeping the economy down. Lansdown had a good opening partnership which Bath found hard to break down. F McDonald came into the attack and immediately made a breakthrough taking a key wicket which pulled back Lansdowns good start. Blackburn and Russell also managed to keep lansdowns run scoring to a minimum! A Ball was the next man to come into the action to take another key wicket which reduced Lansdown to 85-5 off 15 overs. Stappard soon became star of the show on the field, taking a quite staggering 4 stumpings during the course of the game. Stunning quick hands and being mentally switched on during the game made the Lansdown batters work extra hard to keep there foot behind the crease with Stappard standing up to the stumps to all bowlers. This lead to Lansdown being bowled out for 106 with Bath winning by 27 runs. It must also be said that the fielding performances from the boys has dramatically improved which shows a great start to the season!

Great game! Great win!, well done boys!
