Marshfield U13 v Bath Daggers

A cold stiff breeze blew across Marshfield CC on Tuesday evening as Daggers were put in to bat.  Against some difficult bowling and a slow outfield, Captain Rose Turner (11)  and Connie Osborn (33) gave the innings a good impetus, and a determined 11no by Clara Greensmith took Bath’s total to a creditable 107 for 5 from their 20 overs.

 

Marshfield’s innings stuttered at the start, the in form Rose (1-5) and Connie (1-3) restricting the home side to 8 for 2 from the first 4 overs.   The run rate then picked up, but wickets continued to fall with Rosa Couzins (2-7), Mia Wadsworth, Clara G and Liv Oldfield all taking wickets and some excellent fielding pinning the boys back.  A final 2 over spell from Genevieve D (1-5) kept the Daggers on top and a run out off the last ball kept Marshfield’s total to 88-9, anchored by Harry B's 20 not out.  

A good team performance earned a well earned win for the Bath girls in difficult and deteriorating weather conditions.
