Scimitars v Chippenham

The Scimitars got there first win of the season this week away to Chippenham, on a freezing cold Tuesday night. The Scimitars won the toss and elected to bowl, which turned out to be the correct decision by the skipper Goodman.

The Scimitars played very well in the conditions, fielding very well and being very energetic throughout. I Cooper (4 overs 1-17) got a big wicket in the first ball of his second over keeping everyone’s heads up and wanting to get another. The bowling was fantastic all round. G Willis (4 overs 1-14), A Moss (4 overs, 1 maiden 1-10) and R Goodman (4 overs, 2 maidens 2-12) were top performers on the bowling side as they kept the bowling tight stopping Chippenham scoring. One batter was getting their eye in and hitting runs which could have swayed the game in Chippenham’s favour but Goodman got them LBW for 25 in the 15th over, putting a stop to a bigger score.

On the batting front we only needed our opening batsmen, knocking Chippenham’s 97 total score off in 13.1 overs. Out of the two openers there was one stand out performance, A Moss hitting a very strong 57 not out with a total of ten 4’s, some of those being textbook lofted drives over the bowlers head. I cannot miss out the other opener though, M Scarpino done the hard graft to stick with Moss for the full time hitting a very solid 17 not out.

It was great to get the first win of the season and some fantastic performances to go with it.

Chippenham 97-5 (20), Scimitars 99-0 (13.1) - Scimitars won by 10 wickets
