U11 Arrows v Winsley

The Arrows made thier first trip away from fortress North Parade to the Brownsword this season

With a another strong team selected, young leader of men, Alfie had no hesitation in putting Winsley into bat. A decision immediately justified with a two maidens from Wilf (left arm inswing) and Seb (leg cutters) tying the openers up. However it wasnt until the 8th over that Bath made a break through with Joe B shaping the ball back, to clean up the stumps. The innings then had an injection of urgency from former Bath player Jack H who immediately started running aggressively and challenging our decision making, stopping and throwing ability. The skipper kept ringing the changes and eventually the ball landed in Rory D's hands and the innings was turned on its head with a spell of 4-1 in 8 of his first deliveries aided by Tom S' catching at cover point. Winsley managed to cling on to 82-8 surviving the pace of Adam H and the seam of Ollie and Jonty to see out the remainder of the 20 overs.

In respnse Winsley mirrored our own miserly start with the pressure bringing the downfall of Jonty who struck a clean pull shot but brought out the best of the Winsley fielder with a catch diving forward at mid wicket.
Ethan (35) and Sam (28*) then did their best impression of England's Dawid Malan going through the gears. Both scored allround the wicket with a highlights package worth of boundaries (Ethan striking two back over the bowlers head after skipping down the pitch and Sam clipping through mid wicket and straight back past the bowler). Unfortunately for Ethan he couldnt quite carry his bat but it did allow Ollie the chance to hit a cover drive behind point for 1 and leave it to Sam to finish in style with his 4th boundary in the 13th over.

Next week its back to North Parade against Keynsham and hopefully tales of more players contributung match winning perfromances
