U11 Blades v Hinton Charterhouse
Bath won the toss and selected to bat first. After a few nervy first overs and a pair of early wickets, Seb K and
Max F-M batted well together, Seb contributing a pair of well struck boundaries, to give Bath Blades a strong chance of putting a good total on the score board. Positive running between the wickets along side consistent bowling left Bath on 53-7. However, a strong final partnership between Tilly K and Ed P got Bath up to 75-9 in their 20 overs. Tilly contributing a number of impressive boundary shots.
Bath Blades' bowling performance was in contrast far more consistent across the board. The opening pair of Jack R and Alex C started the innings well keeping the Hinton opening batsmen to little runs in the early overs. Alex also secured the teams first wicket with a full delivery that the batter hit straight up in the air which he was then able to comfortably catch. All the Bath bowlers deserved to take wickets, however, it was Seb K who claimed the teams second wicket, hitting the batsman's leg stump. In the second half of the innings the game steadily livened up as Bath took a number of quick wickets. Bowlers that took wickets included: Luca W-G, Ethan H (2), Oscar McT, and Oliver A. As the match reached it's climax, Hinton were required to score 3 runs in the final over and unfortunately smart running and unlucky run out attempts meant that Hinton got across the line with 2 balls to spare.
As a coach it is great to see the Blades week after week progressing their individual games as well as lifting each others confidence within the team. Our perfect game is still in sight and we have one last match in which to achieve it!!
