U11 Sabres v Corsham Falcons - BDYCL Cup
The Sabres fielded first and started off very well. Lovely straight lines and lengths were bowled but Ava O and Harriet with 3 wickets being taken within the first 4 overs. Steady bowling from Eliza after that made sure that few runs were able to be gained off of her bowling.
Towards the end of the first innings was where the girls began to tire and extras were given more than they should have been. Beth then came on to bowl with a fire in her belly, gaining 3 wickets herself during her spell. Ava S helped to support her and got herself 3 wickets too. Corsham Falcons ended on 230.
Alice and Ava S were the first batting pair and were off to a steady start. The boys bowled well, not giving much away at all. Alice did manage to send one to the boundary which helped ease the couple of wickets they had lost.
Ava O and Beth were next. They managed to rotate the strike well and pick up some quick singles. Some extras in their innings helped boost the runs back up above 200.
Eliza and Hannah were next, they were faced with very consistent bowling. Lots of very good dot balls meant it was hard to score runs and the pressure was building. But they ended on a decent total for the last pair.
The last pair Winnie and Harriet had a lot of pressure on their shoulders. There was only 12 to win when they walked out to the crease and unfortunately their death bowlers were very strong. A mixture of pressure and accurate bowling. The girls finished on 205- losing by 25 runs.
