U13 Axes v Keynsham B (League Cup)

Bath Axes 53/ao

Keynsham 54/0

A depleted Axes scummed to a 10 wicket defeat to a very good Keynsham side in the Bath and District Youth League ¼ final. Yet again, the club showed its strength and I was able to call upon some talented Arrows. Sam P, Jack P and Alby J all stepped up to help fulfil this fixture, we are all very grateful for that – thank you.

It was not to be our night, although the ground staff had prepared a runway, a perfect outfield and had even ordered drenching sunlight! Our only bat who took advantage of this was the enigmatic Luke W who struck 25 from 12 balls, he demonstrated that it was a ‘fill your boots’ type of evening. Unfortunately, there was a number of runouts which really didn’t help our cause!

In response the Keynsham bats were ruthless in their chase and gave literally no chances. What was lovely to see was senior player Luke S encouraging new boy Sam P who had donned the gloves for the evening, this is the type of character I love to see. Great work Luke!

Well, that’s it…..the season has now finished and all there is left to say is some thank yous. Karl S has been my rock all year and has taken on the unenviable task of scoring at every game, thanks so much, I owe you a shandy! To all of the parents for your unwavering support of me and the team and finally to the children who have been outstanding all season long. For now, Gunners
