U13 Daggers v Biddestone

Bath Daggers v Biddestone Hawks

12 May 2021

A cold and damp May evening greeted the teams at the Brownsword ground.  Biddestone batted first as the drizzle set in and it was soon agreed that ten overs per side was the most that the weather was likely to allow.

India M took a wicket for two runs in the first over.  With the girls bowling one over each and the ball and outfield becoming slippery Biddestone added another 24 before the second wicket fell to the spin of Evie D.  Evie was the only bowler from either team to bowl two overs in the match and rewarded Daggers with three wickets for 15 runs.  Biddestone batted aggressively throughout, ending on 89-5 as Liv  took their fifth wicket with the last ball of the innings.

Genevieve D and India M set off determined  to bring the tough target of 90 within reach, clever running and powerful hitting taking Daggers to 63 in the 8th over before Genevieve holed out to mid off (28) trying to maintain the rate.  India M (23no) and Evie D (2no) kept the hope going to the very last ball, but ultimately Daggers fell four runs short as Biddestone bowled and fielded ferociously to the end.

A great contest in awful conditions, the younger Daggers punching above their weight and showing great character throughout.

In a game when 19 bowlers shared 20 overs it was unlikely that one player would stand out.  Daggers were kept competitive by their three batters.

A very committed team performance which Daggers’ will all learn from for future (and hopefully dryer) games!

Biddestone Hawks 89-5 (10 overs), Bath Daggers 84-1 (10 overs)
