U13 Scimitars v Chippenham

Bath Scimitars 61 a.o. (10 overs), Chippenham 64-3 (10.3 overs) - Chippenham won by 7 wickets.

This week COVID hit selection harder than ever, with the Axes playing a league decider, and schools isolating everywhere, the Scimitars were unfortunately left with only 8 players available to play.

Batting first, the Scimitars made a great effort to set a score, batting 10 overs for their 61. The main highlight was seeing G Willis open up the batting and bat the whole innings for a good looking 19* off of 18 balls hitting fours left right and centre.

Chippenham were nice enough to let us borrow a couple of fielders so we weren’t missing 3 people on the pitch, but the Scimitars knew it was going to be a tough task to keep them under 61 in 20 overs. The Scimitars gave it their best effort bowling tight lines and picking up a couple of wickets, but 28 runs from one of Chippenham’s batters set them on their way. A couple highlights of the Scimitars fielding innings was J Tomlinson getting a very good direct hit run out, and C Kenny-Taylor bowling very well, getting 1 wicket in his two overs and only going for 6 runs.

If the Scimitars had a full team out things may have been a bit different as they may have batted out the overs but that’s how the game goes and unfortunately the Scimitars came out second best.
