BDYCL Cup - 10 August 2021

Won by 65 runs

Venue: North Parade

U15 Samurai v Heytesbury & Sutton Veny CC

Bath Samarais capped off a good season in style by demolishing HSVW in the Bath League Cup Final at North Parade.

After winning the toss and batting first, Bath were given a head start thanks to a raft of extras in the opening few overs. The loss of Eayres didn't deter Bean (32) and Everritt (36), who combined to put on 68 in quick time to leave Bath well places for a big total. Captain Gearing injected further imputus into the innings, with a swashbuckling 28, to boost Bath to an imposing 152-6 from 20 overs.

Tight spells from opening bowlers Husband (1-12) and Bean (1-10) prevented HSVW from getting off to the start they wanted. They were backed up by all 5 other bowlers and a professional effort in the field, which gave our visitors no realistic chance of victory. They finished on 87-5 to give Bath a resounding 65 run victory.

A deserved win for the boys who have worked hard all season and produced some great cricket. Thanks to all the boys and parents who have all played their part in an enjoyable season.

Special thanks to all the older lads who have now finished their youth careers at Bath CC, I am pleased they were given a suitable valedictory following their overall good conduct and hard work and over the years. I hope to see you all enjoying your cricket in years to come 👍🏏
