U15 Samurai v Lansdown

The u15 Samarais were defeated by Lansdown for a 3rd time this season in another fine game of cricket against their local rivals in the BDYCL

Batting first, Bath made a steady start and looked well set for a solid score at 27-1 from the first 5 overs in the face of some lively Lansdown bowling. However a collapse left us at 54-6 from 13 overs, meaning any form of defendable score was a challenge. Max H battled hard to reach 19 and give us a chance, as we stumbled to 99 all out in 19.4 overs. John B (20) and Luke S (15) were the other main contributers as extras comfortably top scored with 30. The innings also saw 7 of our 10 wickets fall bowled.

Our bowling response was excellent with Joe H and John B setting the tone with some economical bowling, before Joe H claimed a key wicket with an excellent delivery to give us hope. Despite our best efforts in the field and with the ball, the wicket column was only troubled once more thanks to Jamie G and a fine catch from Max H. Lansdown kept wickets in hand and timed their chase well to complete their 8 wicket win in the penultimate over.

Credit to the lads for hanging in there despite a dissapointing opening 15 overs with the bat. Although an 8 wicket win for Lansdown looks comfortable, the boys were very much in the game until the closing stages and should be praised for the buzz and belief they showed in the field. They also conceeded just 4 extras, with Toby E deputising behind the stumps with distinction.

We face Hinton in the league on Wed and may even get another crack at Lansdown in the League Cup in the next couple of weeks should they get past MSN.
