Bath progress in ECB Club Championships

27 June 2021

A comprehensive 10 wicket win for Bath as we ventured to Cardiff to take on St Fagans CC - we now progress to the last 16 and a trip to either Bridgwater or Callington awaits on the 18th July.

On a blustery day with potential rain in the forecast, skipper Sam Mount won the toss and elected to bowl. Pressure was applied straight away from the new ball pairing of George Axtell and Paul Muchall and a wicket each left the score on 20/2 from 10 overs. A wicket for James Arney followed before the squeeze was well and truly applied by spin twins Kyle Hopper and Tim Rouse, both bowling their 8 overs straight through - Hopper taking 1-17 and Rouse ripping through the middle order to finish with the outstanding figures of 4-11. Muchall returned to clean up the last wicket and St Fagans were all out for 85 from 34.3 overs.

Brad Porteous and Rouse continued their fine form from yesterday and made short work of the target, reaching their goal in just 11.4 overs - Porteous finished unbeaten on 46 with Rouse on 33.

St Fagans 85 - Rouse 4/11, Muchall 2/16

Bath 86/0 - Porteous 46*, Rouse 33*

Two confidence building wins this weekend ahead of a trip to league leaders Clevedon next Saturday.
