Bath Wanderers made an impressive start to the new West of England Womens’ Premier League, with a ten wicket victory over Dumbleton CC.  After losing the toss, Bath dismissed the home team for 121 in 35 overs, and then made 124 for no wicket in less than 14 overs for a dominant 10 wicket victory.

Dumbleton started with aggressive intent, though tight bowling by Chloe Micklethwaite  (6ov-1w-21r) and Isla Thomson (6ov- 2w – 39r) , backed up by some excellent fielding, took important wickets to limit the home side to 31-3 after 10 overs.

When fielding restrictions were relaxed, Captain Emma Godman decided on a spin attack spearheaded by Charlotte Phillips (8-3-24) and Emily Smith (8-3-18).  Dumbleton Captain Katie Jones kept up the hosts aggression but when she was bowled by Emily Smith for 50, wickets fell at regular intervals. Lily Day and Evie Dixon maintained the pressure on a turning wicket and the home side were finally dismissed for 121 in the 36th over.

In reply, Isla Thomson (57*) and Emma Godman (35*) played an aggressive and unbeaten opening partnership to reach 124-0 and claim victory in the 14th over.

A fabulous start to the season and the new Premier League by Wanderers.
